This blog is about a book called - A Broken Childhood.

The author’s story is an example of how a person who has been harmed can make a decision to release the anger so that her life can be defined by more than the abuse she survived.

A Broken Childhood is a tale of bravery by a survivor of child abuse that will speak to victims, caregivers, and child advocates alike. It is also a story of self preservation and forgiveness that any reader will be able to relate to.

Synopsis

Lydia Ola Taiwo was born to a young family in London in 1964. From foster care Lydia moved in with her parents when she was five years old. She faced a horrific life of abuse for seven years. She was able to forgive her parents after twenty-six years. This is an account of her traumatic life up to the age of 12. This book tells no lie, it is all true. The book was not written to condemn or criticize anyone, but a reflective and personal account of an abusive life. She eventually forgave the abusers after 26 long years which released her from bitterness,  pain and hurt.

This is an interesting quote made by Lewis B. Smedes

“To forgive is to set a prisoner free and discover that the prisoner was you.”
